The Herdade da Casa Velha is located close to the coast in the Alentejo with wide-stretching cork-oak forests, century-old olive groves and pastures for beef cattle, sheep and the famous black pigs (Porco Alentejano).
The area is situaded right between the capital Lisbon and the Algarve, with many sights and great historical value. The Herdade lies about 5km northwest of Cercal do Alentejo at the main road from Cercal to Sines, close to the district of Porto Covo. A trip to the coast and the Ilha do Pessegueiro only takes about 10-15 minutes by car, Ourique only takes half an hour.
